Stewardship & Safety
At Van Isle Treks, we believe every hike is more than just an adventure, it is a chance to respect and care for the land. Our core principles are built on stewardship, preparation and shared responsibility.
Leave No Trace -
We practice and encourage Leave No Trace principles on every outing. This means packing out all garbage, respecting fragile ecosystems, and keeping campsites clean for the next visitors.
Wildlife Awareness -
We share the backcountry with bears, cougars, marmots, and many other species. Respecting wildlife means observing from a distance, storing food properly, and never disturbing animals in their natural habitat.
Trail Responsibility -
We promote awareness, preparation, and respectful conduct within the group. Participants are expected to make responsible decisions and avoid reckless behavior in all environments.
Preparedness and Safety -
Weather, terrain, and conditions can change quickly in the mountains. Every trek includes a focus on preparation, from proper gear to route awareness. Participants are responsible for bringing appropriate gear and equipment for conditions. Van Isle Treks may carry general-use equipment, but this does not replace individual responsibility.
Community and Respect -
We welcome like minded adventurers who value nature and respect for one another. By working together, we keep trails open, respected and sustainable for generations to come.
Van Isle Treks is committed to creating outdoor experiences that are both inspiring and responsible. Stewardship is not just a guideline, it is the heart of how we operate.
We operate with preparation, accountability, and a clear awareness in the backcountry for each outing. We respect and support (SAR) Search and Rescue operations, maintaining a mindset of readiness, awareness, and responsibility in all situations. Respect for the land, conditions, and individual responsibility comes first
